Phone service

Any used Grandstream or Yealink desk phone

Bringing your own (or a used) VoIP phone onto our phone service: factory-reset it, point it at our provisioning server, and it configures itself. 15 minutes, no tools.

Setup steps

  1. 1Plug the phone into power and your network (a PoE switch powers most models over the network cable alone).
  2. 2Factory reset so old settings are gone. Grandstream: on the phone press Menu > System > Operations > Factory Reset (or web UI > Maintenance > Upgrade and Provisioning > Factory Reset). Yealink: hold the OK key ~10 seconds, or Menu > Settings > Advanced Settings (default password: admin) > Reset to Factory. The exact path varies slightly by model.
  3. 3Find the phone IP: press the Up arrow or Menu > Status on most models, and open that IP in a browser on the same network.
  4. 4Log into the web UI (fresh defaults: Grandstream admin/admin, Yealink admin/admin) and change the password when prompted.
  5. 5Point it at our provisioning server. Grandstream: Maintenance > Upgrade and Provisioning > set Config Server Path to businessitsolutions.net/prov, upgrade via HTTPS. Yealink: Settings > Auto Provision > Server URL: https://businessitsolutions.net/prov > Confirm.
  6. 6Reboot the phone. It downloads its configuration automatically and your number/extension appears on screen within a couple of minutes.
  7. 7Nothing showing? Call (207) 819-8229 or use the voice/chat assistant on our site and we will walk you through it live — we just need the MAC address printed on the sticker under the phone.

Troubleshooting

Phone still shows old account/extension after reset+

The factory reset did not complete — repeat it from the web UI (Maintenance/Advanced section) rather than the keypad, then reboot.

Config not downloading after setting the server path+

We may not have your phone registered yet. Send us the MAC address (sticker on the bottom, 12 characters) and we will add it to the provisioning server — then reboot the phone.

No dial tone after configuration+

Check the handset cord is in the correct port (marked with a handset icon), and confirm the phone shows your number on screen. If it does and there is still no dial tone, contact us — the SIP registration may need attention on our side.

Phone has no power+

If your switch is not PoE, you need the matching power adapter for the model (5V or 12V depending on phone — check the label). We stock adapters if the used phone came without one.

Pro tips

  • Used phones are a great value — a factory reset makes them as good as new for our service.
  • Tell us the MAC address BEFORE you start and the phone will configure itself on the first boot.
  • Our AI assistant (call 207-819-8228 or the voice chat on the support page) can walk you through this step-by-step, in your language.
